River Recovered Heart Pine Floor
River recovered heart pine may be considered a lost treasure in history and is now salvaged by many home builders for its desirable qualities. During the industrial revolution, many Americans utilized pine forests as the main resource for building and construction material.
Cut and cleared heart pine timber was dispatched from these forests to the nearest sawmill through rivers. River transportation was the main medium of delivery for these goods at the time, however as a result of its complexity; numerous amounts of giant heart pine lumber were lost in the rivers. During this era, the technology never existed to recover lost heart pine lumber from river bottoms, and as a result, they have remained sunken for over a century until now.
