The Ipe tree originates in Brazil as well as in other tropical regions of America. It is also naturally deters insects, decay, and molds. Ipe is naturally fire resistant and contains no added harmful chemicals. Ipe wood is given the same fire rating as concrete and steel!
Apart from its use in flooring, it is principally used where high shock resistance levels are needed like railroad crossties, heavy construction, tool handles, and decorative veneers.
