The heavy, brownish-red wood is waterproof, sands nicely and is incredibly strong. It is often seen on parquet floors and banisters where a classic look is preferred.
Colors range from a dark orange to a red-brown similar to oak but it is twice as strong. It is also known for resisting boring insects and any type of fungi.
